A Thriving Space for Academic, Personal and Cultural Development

Every day at BISB balances focused academic time with room to explore, play and grow. From registration through to the end of the school day, pupils move between rigorous lessons, co-curricular activity, and the simple business of being children.

School life here is thriving and close-knit, shaped by a full school calendar that runs throughout the year for our Primary and Secondary pupils alike, building both a strong sense of self and a genuine sense of community.

PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral Care for Our Boarders

Boarding brings an additional layer of pastoral care, built around a constant adult presence, and support that continues well beyond the school day.

01 Live-In Houseparents

Our boarders are supported day to day by live-in trusting Houseparents, giving every boarder a caring adult presence, morning, evening and night. Our houseparents are student advocates that guide, nurture, consoling and intervening when required. Our team develop our boarder with the critical life-skills young people need to be successful and truly independent.

02 Head of Boarding & Pastoral Care

The whole boarding programme is overseen by our Head of Boarding & Pastoral Care, responsible for the welfare of every boarder and the strategic development of our school boarders.

03 Academic Tutorship

Further academic support comes through dedicated tutorship in the early evening, helping boarders stay on track with prep outside the school day.

04 Onsite Nurse Facilities

Dedicated nurse facilities on site mean medical care and support are always close at hand. Our nursing care offers impartial information and guidance to our students as trusted and confidential professionals.

05 Housekeeping Services

Housekeeping services keep boarding accommodation clean, comfortable and well cared for.

PARTNERSHIPS

A Partnership Built to Last

BISB’s  foundation partnership is with the British International School of Timișoara (BIST), our established sister school. BIST’s experience, curriculum and educational standards provide a proven model on which BISB will build.  This partnership gives BISB access to established expertise while allowing the school to develop an identity rooted in the needs and aspirations of the Bacău community.

The two schools will work closely to establish a rigorous and ambitious approach to curriculum, teaching and academic achievement. Collaboration will include the sharing of curriculum expertise, resources and effective practice.. BISB maintain consistently high expectations from its opening year and prepare students for internationally recognised pathways throughout school growth.

Students will be active participants in the partnership. BISB and BIST students will have opportunities to collaborate through student councils, leadership projects, academic competitions, debates, performances, sporting events and community initiatives. As BISB grows, these connections will create a wider community in which students can lead, contribute and build lasting relationships beyond their own school.

Alongside its partnership with BIST, BISB will develop relationships with universities, examination bodies, businesses and community organisations in Bacău, Romania and internationally. Together, these partnerships will broaden students’ academic, leadership and career opportunities, extending learning well beyond the school gates.

Keeping Families Connected to School Life

We believe children thrive when families and teachers work closely together. Through open communication, regular updates and dialogue, we build a relationship based on trust, clarity and collaboration throughout every stage of a student’s journey.

01

Clear and Regular Communication

Parents stay informed through our internal communication platform and a school newsletter distributed twice each month, sharing updates, important announcements and highlights from school life.
02

Meetings and Academic Updates

Regular parent-teacher meetings and performance review discussions allow families to follow their child's academic progress, discuss development and set future goals together with teachers.
03

Events and School Engagement

Throughout the year, parents are invited to a variety of events including orientation days for new families, subject option evenings, parent workshops and informal gatherings.
04

Open Door Policy

We maintain an open-door policy that allows parents to book meetings with teachers, Heads of Department or the School Leadership Team whenever guidance, clarification or support is needed.

PARTNERSHIPS

Academic & Community Partnerships

UNIVERSITY & ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS

BISB’s Cambridge International curriculum is itself a partnership with real reach: Cambridge qualifications are recognised by more than 2,670 universities in 99 countries, giving our pupils a direct, trusted pathway into higher education wherever they choose to apply. As BISB grows towards its first leavers, we will build direct guidance relationships with universities in Romania, the UK and further afield, helping pupils and families navigate applications, entrance requirements and, where relevant, scholarships.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS IN BACĂU

BISB’s partnerships extend into Bacău itself. As the school grows, we plan to build relationships with local businesses, cultural organisations and civic institutions, creating opportunities for work experience, community service and cultural exchange that connect our pupils to the city and region they call home. We see BISB not just as a school in Bacău, but as a genuine part of it.

SCHOOL BOARDING

More than a place to sleep

Boarding is about far more than where a pupil sleeps. It offers a genuine second home: a round-the-clock community where friendships form across year groups and independence grows naturally, in a way a day-only education cannot fully offer. Without a daily commute, boarders gain real time back, for prep, sport, music and simply being with friends.

That structure benefits pupils directly. Evenings follow a settled rhythm of supervised prep and rest, so boarders stay on track academically, and a constant, caring adult presence, from Houseparents to our Head of Boarding, means every child is known well and supported early. For families further from Bacău, or who want their child to grow through independence in a secure setting, boarding at BISB combines the closeness of family life with a genuinely international community.

THE BOARDING ADVANTAGE, AT A GLANCE

Where Every Day Counts

  • More time for study, sport and friendships, with no daily commute
  • Friendships that cross year groups, built through shared daily life
  • Growing independence and resilience in a secure, supportive environment
  • A true home from home, for boarders who live further afield
  • A structured evening routine of supervised prep, so boarders stay on track
  • A consistent, caring adult presence around the clock, day and night
  • Full access to sport, music and enrichment beyond the school day

SCHOOL BOARDING

A home from home

HOW BOARDING WORKS

Boarding at BISB is offered to Secondary pupils, as either weekly or full boarding, alongside day places. Weekly boarders live on campus during the school week and go home at weekends. Students are placed in families and reside in dedicated floors with a team to supervise them. Full boarders remain on campus throughout term, including weekends, taking part in the wider boarding programme of activities, sport and rest.

“A structured, safe and enriching residential experience that develops independence, resilience and global citizenship.”

Weekly Boarding

On campus Monday to Friday, home for weekends. Students return to school on Sunday evening and greeted by the houseparent team.

Full Boarding

On campus throughout term, including weekends. Weekends have structured activities and events to support the boarders cultural, social and physical development.

Single Gender School Houses

Students are assigned small house groups with dedicated pastoral staff to support their needs.

Structured Daily Routines

The days are highly structured with a timetable of activities: morning wake-up call, schooling, supervised prep for study, dinner, free time and a set bedtime.

SCHOOL BOARDING

A day and week in boarding

Boarding life at BISB follows a settled rhythm, one that gives structure to the school day while leaving real room for rest, friendship and activity.

01

Morning

Boarders wake, have breakfast together, and join day pupils for the start of the school day, arriving in class alongside their peers rather than separately.
02

School Day

Boarders share the same lessons, teachers and school day as day pupils. There is no separate academic track, just one shared standard for everyone.
03

Evening

Time for sport, music or clubs, a shared evening meal, and a supervised prep session before the day winds down under the care of the Houseparents.
04

Weekend

Full boarders take part in a wider weekend programme of activities, sport and rest. Weekly boarders head home on Friday and return for the week ahead.
